The famous City palace of Jaipur is a beautiful complex surrounded by courtyards, buildings and gardens. The architecture of the palace was designed making a perfect combination of Rajasthani and Mughal style. The outer wall of this palace was built by Maharaja Jai Singh. The buildings which are located inside the wall were built in later part. The construction was started way back in 1729. The chief architect for this palace was Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. He used the principles of Shilpa Shastra and Vaastu Shastra for making a grid-based model of city. Vidyadhar was also the chief architect as well as city planner of Jaipur city.
Mubarak Mahal: Maharaja Madho Singh built the Mubarak Mahal. The gate is designed using marble stones and beautiful designs are carved on it. The doors of the mahal are attached to gates made of heavy brass. Once you enter this palace Diwan-e-Khas and Diwan-e-Aam will come. A big clock tower is there in this place.
Chandra Mahal: This is one of the beautiful mahals which is seven-storied. Earlier it was the residence of the ruler of then period. This mahal is built right at the centre of the palace. From this palace you can get an extraordinary view of the palace. This Mahal is now a museum and here you find the great collection of arms and ammunitions of the Mughal period and many items which were used by the royal members.
Badal Mahal: Next to Chandra Mahal comes Badal Mahal. The Govind JI Temple is located in between these 2 mahals. The gardens all around the palaces will surely impress any visitor to this palace. You can a find a well decorate large vessel made of silver right outside the mahal. It was the carrier of drinking water for the Maharaja when he used to visit England.
